OUR MISSION

To help men in prison reach their fullest in the Lord.

WHAT WE DO

Ministering to the spirit, soul and body, through one on one mentoring weekly, as their spiritual advisor.

HOW WE BEGAN

Jeremiah Prison Ministry began on November 30, 1999, and was birth out of a bond for a young man that made a wrong choice in life.

OUR VISION

Our vision is not only to be spiritual visits with one on one advisors to inmates.  Our health has changed a lot of our visions. But we won't give up emailing, writing and having the imates call us which is only 15 mins per phone call.  We are looking into video visit cost.

WHO WE ARE:

Tom is an ordained minister with the Pentecostal Church of God.  He has a Bachelors in  Christian Ministry and a Masters in Bible Theology.  Monica is an ordained minister with National Association of Christian Ministers. She has a Certificate of Ministry from the Pentecostal Church of God and a Life Skills Bachelors in Accounting.  Tom has been in the ministry for over 40 years and Monica has been in the ministry for over 35 years.

Update:  We continue writing cards, letters and newsletters, taking calls from the inmates. And we do a lot of aftercare, which many of the former inmates do aftercare for us.

We are in 2024 and there are new strains of the Covid virus.  2021 and 2020 was a different year with Covid19. The world was in lockdown.  We remained doing the protocol of staying away from large crowds. We have been vaccinated.

The PA prisons have opened the prisons for visitation and currently still offier video visits which at this time I haven't signed up for us.  For us to visit it won't happen as Tom takes a shot about every 2 hours.  Its called Apokyn and it needs to be near him in the visiting room which won't happen. Myself I am on Insulin which I used to be able to walk from the visiting room to the locker area and inject but rules have changed in the prisons.  We will look into this!

It's 2024 and we are still alive but with lots of challenges. Tom has good and not so good days.  He is able to take care of his hygene and some light things around the house. Nighttimes are the worse for Tom with no medication he is stiff as a board.  Taking care of Tom at night is a challenge for me with my spine.

Tom's parkinson's has advanced so our life is challenging and he had many falls in 2023. I had to call 911 five times to pick him up and our neigbors helped also.  Tom did the Big Step program for the second time which he did great although this was during his on time.  It doesn't cure the off periods.   In November we purchased a floor lift to help him get up from falling, which this has been so helpful.

At the end of  July 2023 I had congestive heart failure with A-Fib.  My heart was shocked back into rythmn.  In August we got a new shower installed which is a beauty but they didn't tell me the floor was slippery.  Two days after it was installed I stepped in on the floor and slid to the back wall.  If there wasn't a safety bar I would of face planted.  Grabbed the bar and my back went out.  I was in pain that was worse the labor pain.  The spine pressed on the nerves which so painful!  I had physical therapy to help.

March of 2019 I had a heart attack finding out that I had two major blockages. One stent was placed in the 99% blockage and the 90% blockage is on hold for now. I am on a lot of new medications.

April of 2018 Tom had major spinal fusion with a corpectomy. His spine collapsed and he was in severe pain for 3 months and lost over 50 pounds. He was able to come home from rehab June 14, 2018. His spine and spinal nerve roots are still healing. Tom also has Parkinson's. We were able to make one prison visit in November of 2018. We have a lot of doctor appointments. Tom started a new medication in May 2019 called Apokyn that is an injection.  The medication take him out of falloff in 5 to 15 minutes.

We continue to correspond with the inmates by cards, our newsletters, email and the inmates call Tom.

We had the opportunity to be with family and friends of Larry Markle when he was released and freed from prison on October 10, 2017.  Larry was a juvenile life serving 42 years. God is doing great things for Larry, he got married in February 2019.

Over the last 21 years we have seen over 100 inmates leave and currently minister to 44 inmates in 5 states. We minister to many lifers in prison. We ask that you would pray for them and pray for reform in the prison system across our nation. In our recent newsletters I have been publishing information about Juvenile Lifers Without Parole.

We are waiting on PA to make a decision since the SCOTUS did a ruling on juvenile lifers without parole. This is now back in SCOTUS for another ruling (2015).

The great news we have been waiting for arrived, on January 25, 2016 in a 6 to 3 decision the SCOTUS ruled that it is retro-active for juvenile lifers to have reviews of their sentences.  Click Here to read the article
